Beginners

You've always wanted to try — and now you're here. No experience needed, no pressure to be "good." We'll start from scratch and take it step by step.

Intermediates

You already make things. You're here to go deeper — refine your technique, push past your plateaus, and get honest feedback that actually moves your work forward.

Teens & Kids

Young artists thrive here. Classes are hands-on, encouraging, and genuinely fun — built around curiosity and creativity, not perfection.

— YOU CAN DO THIS!

We believe that given the right tools and instruction, anyone can learn how to express themselves artistically.

Our instruction is tailored to each student, their experience and goals. Students work in a group setting, each focused on their own projects. The environment is relaxed, supportive, and fun. Be social, be introverted, it’s up to you!

— INSTRUCTOR, STUDIO FOUNDER

A man with dark hair and glasses sitting on a red couch next to a tan and white dog with black markings and a collar, in a room with shelves filled with teapots and cups, and an ice skate hanging on the wall.

Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, Andrew studied theater and art at UT Austin before becoming a Production Designer in Los Angeles — where he spent years compiling diverse visual elements into single cohesive expressions for film and print.

After studying classical painting at Mission Renaissance Fine Art Academy in Pasadena, he founded the Fine Art Studio of San Antonio in 2021, then the Fine Art Studio of Asheville in 2024. He teaches the way the masters created: line, value, and color.

from people just like you.

Everything you want to know.

  • That’s actually our favourite kind of student! Beginners are our specialty. We specialize in teaching people with zero experience, and most first-timers are drawing confidently by the end of their very first session.

  • Group classes are for ages 8 and up. For children under 9, we recommend private lessons — younger students benefit more from full one-on-one attention and instruction tailored to their development.

  • Yes - all new students get one completely free trial class. After that, classes work on a monthly membership: you choose a recurring time slot and attend weekly. Your membership allows up to four active class bookings at once.

  • Think of it as private teaching in a group setting. Andrew works with you one-on-one, gives you a skill and a demonstration, then moves to the next student. He circles back to check your work throughout. You set up your own still life and work at your own pace.

  • Every student is different — there's no fixed timeline before you move from drawing to another medium. The goal is to give you a strong foundation in observation and technique so that when you do pick up a brush, it actually makes sense. Most students begin painting within a few months.

  • Nothing! All materials are provided in class. As you progress and develop personal preferences you may choose to bring your own supplies, but that's entirely optional and comes naturally with time.
